Target rifle shooting was established as a sport at Sydney Boys High School in
1883. Over the last century, the Club has enjoyed an impressive
history. The Club participates in smallbore target rifle shooting,
using specialised .22" target rifles. At fifty metres, the ten
ring is only 1 cm (less than half an inch).
The
Club also regularly participates in fullbore shooting, on outdoor
ranges firing the .308" (7.62 mm) cartridge. The distances fired vary
from 300 to 800 metres in regular competition. The bullseye on a 300 metre target is about 10 centimetres (4 inches).
